What to expect
If you are interested in working with me therapeutically, I will call you at a time of your convenience to have a brief talk about the nature of your difficulty and the logistics of therapy. This conversation will allow us both to get a better idea of whether we would be happy working with one another.
Our first face to face meeting will last approximately 90 minutes and during this time I will carry out an assessment of the presenting difficulties with the aim of creating a guide for what therapy might look like. Depending on the complexity this may be done at the assessment or over a few more sessions.
Once we are clear on the difficulty, point of intervention and preferred therapeutic approach we will meet weekly to work towards your goals. I will strive to help you to feel safe and contained when talking about your difficulties and we will work at a pace that feels right for you.
I will approach you as an expert in the experience of your own difficulties and with my assistance we will aim for you to become the expert in managing them.
Once we both feel that we have reached a satisfactory outcome our sessions will come to a close. We will discuss whether a review or top-up sessions might be helpful in the future.
I am happy to write reports either at the assessment stage or at the end of therapy. Reports will be charged separately.
