What is Compassion Focussed Therapy?
Compassion Focussed Therapy, or CFT, is an increasingly popular treatment for mental health struggles such as depression and anxiety and helps those struggling with shame and self-criticism which are often a driving force behind those with mental health difficulties. It is for these reasons that we are proud to be able to offer Compassion Focussed Therapy or CFT in Surrey.
How Does CFT Work?
As suggested, CFT works by helping one become more accepting and compassionate towards themselves. With its philosophical foundations in Buddhism, Dr Gurpreet Kaur will work to support you in becoming less self-critical. Our brains evolved for us to react to stress, and a lot of the time it isn’t up to ‘us’ how we do – by recognising this we can lead kinder, more compassionate lives towards ourselves. This compassionate mind training with Dr Kaur will help to disarm those often-overwhelming negative feelings.
