Treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

What is PTSD?

Post-traumatic stress disorder, commonly referred to as PTSD, is a complicated and often challenging condition that is more than often debilitating. PTSD relates to the psychological condition caused by experiencing extreme experiences such as threat to life, serious injury, or sexual violence. PTSD often means an individual is prevented from moving on from that experience in an emotional and psychological way.

PTSD Treatment

As are the reasons for PTSD, treating PTSD is often as complicated, and not everyone experiences therapy the same way. Some may struggle to talk at length about their experiences, where others may not. At Surrey Psychology Dr Gurpreet Kaur will be able to tailor her approach with you, and focus suggest therapies that are best suited to your individual needs. For example, EMDR is an effective PTSD treatment, as it is less centred around reliving events verbally than your typical talking therapy, instead utilising a series of protocols and procedures to activate the natural healing process of the mind.
